Daily AI use in the United States doubled in six months
The share of adults using AI on at least six days in seven rose from 8 to 19 per cent between March and August 2026, while overall reach grew far less.

What changed in six months was not how many people tried it but how habitual use became - and those are different things for forecasts of economic effect.
The publication is dated 14 September 2026, with data from Epoch AI and Ipsos. The share of US adults who reported using AI on at least six days in the previous week rose from 8 to 19 per cent between March and August 2026, more than doubling. Any use within a week rose over the same period from 50.0 to 56.4 per cent. Within that distribution the share using AI on just one day a week fell from 17.3 to 10.1 per cent, while the share using it two to five days rose from 24.3 to 27.3 per cent. The first survey wave ran 3 to 5 March 2026 with 2,017 respondents and the second 28 to 30 August 2026 with 1,016.
