OpenAI raises $122 billion at an $852 billion valuation
The company closed a round of $122 billion in committed capital at an $852 billion post-money valuation and said it is generating $2 billion in revenue per month.
Why it matters
The largest private round on record priced a single developer above most national economies and set the reference point every later valuation in the sector was measured against.
The round closed on 31 March 2026: $122 billion in committed capital at a post-money valuation of $852 billion. In the same post OpenAI says it reached $1 billion in revenue within a year of launching ChatGPT, $1 billion per quarter by the end of 2024, and now generates $2 billion per month, growing revenue four times faster at this stage than Alphabet and Meta did. The company describes itself as the fastest technology platform to 10 million and to 100 million users. Press reports that day name Amazon at up to $50 billion, NVIDIA at $30 billion and SoftBank at $30 billion among the participants, with about $3 billion raised from individual investors through bank channels for the first time. The post itself does not break the round down by investor and says nothing about profitability.
